Entry to Cathedral is free but all of the other monuments around the cathedral require a ticket.
Florence Duomo is a cathedral famous for its magnificient Renaissance dome designed by Flippo Brunelleschi. This church was built in honor of Santa Maria del Fiore.
The pink, white and green marble exterior looks a wonderful piece of work. The mosaic pavements are the main attractions here. Inside you will find the Giorgio Vasari's frescoes of the Last Judgement.
Highlights
The Dome: built without scaffolding, its outer shell is supported by a thick inner shell that acts as its platform. Tourists can climb up the dome and look at the stunning view of city from the top.
The Crypt of Santa Reparata: the remains of the earlier cathedral, Santa Reparata; proof of the existence of early Christianity in the city.
Saint John's Baptistery: known for its exterior bronze doors, also popular as the "Gates of Paradise"
The Campanile: Known as the Giotto's Bell Tower. The 414 steps lead to the top of Campanile presenting panoramic view of the city.
Museo dell'Opera del Duomo: Museum of art, architecture and sculpture and contains 1,000 works of art
Climb up to the top of cupola. There are 463 steps which takes in a tour to interior of the dome.
