The Museum der Moderne, designed by Munich architecture team Friedrich Hoff und Zwink, was officially opened in 2004. Special architectural features include glassed staircases with views of the 19th-century water tower, as well as an exterior which is clad in local marble from the Untersberg.

How to Reach
Museum der Moderne Salzburg, Mönchsberg
From the station you reach the Mönchsberg museum by Bus line 1. until the stop "Mönchsbergaufzug". To your right you see the entry to the Mönchsberg elevator, which brings you to the museum.
Museum der Moderne Salzburg, Rupertinum
- Take the bus no. 1, 4, 10 or 22 to Herbert-von-Karajanplatz. Walk along the Hofstallgasse and the Festival Hall and you will reach the museum within two minutes.
-Take the bus no. 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 14, 20, 25 or 28 to Rathaus. Cross Alter Markt, turn right at the Café Tomaselli and then left into Sigmund-Haffner-Gasse to the Rupertinum. It is a five-minute walk.
-You can also take the bus no. 1, 4, 7, 8, 10, 20, 21, 22, 24, 27 or 28 to Hanuschplatz. Walk into Getreidegasse and through an archway to Universitätsplatz, then walk along Wiener-Philharmoniker-Gasse to the Museum der Moderne Salzburg at the Rupertinum. It is a five-minute walk.
