Bali Ubud Royal Palace used to be the residence of Ubud King named Tjokorde Gede Agung Sukawati and Ubud royal family named as Puri Saren Agung Ubud. These beautiful Balinese traditional houses are popular for the architecture and Garden of the palace forms a majestic view for the tourists. The palace’s stage and meeting halls host international events, including the opening ceremonies of the annual Ubud Writers & Readers Festival.
In the evenings, cultural performances and dances are held at the palace, accompanied by a full Gamelan orchestra. Tickets to these performances are sold in the afternoon.
Entry to Ubud Palace is free but to attend the dance performance you need a ticket which cost IDR 100,000. The dance performances are held in the evening at 7:30 PM.
DANCE PERFORMANCES AT UBUD PALACE
There are regular dance performances held in the courtyard of Ubud Palace and offers a mix of various balinese dance styles narrating a number of traditional Hindu stories from the Legong to the Ramayana. These dance performances are major tourist attractions in Ubud. Barong dances are especially popular which complements the cultural setting of the Ubud Palace.

Barong dance
Features a fight between good and evil as it features a lord of the forest and a witch whose spirits compete in darkness. It is a story of a Balinese village protector.
Legong dance
The dance tells the story of a king who finds a lost maiden and holds her captive. It features complex movement of fingers, feet, and facial expressions.
The Ramayana Ballet
Features a contemporary dance feel with a 30-piece bronze ensemble Gong Kebyar orchestra. The music is emotional as it tells a story of adventure and sorrow through the voice of a female singer.
