The Ridge is connected on both ends to other well known areas. On the eastern end of The Mall is a wooden crafts market or Lakkar Bazaar. Scandal point on the western end is a popular meeting area as well as the highest point of the Mall area.
The Ridge is usually the venue for all celebrations and events. The most famous festival that is held at the Ridge is the Summer Festival. This famous festival is held during the months of April or May and the whole of Shimla comes alive with colors and a riot of activities.
The Ridge has statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Dr. Y S Parmar – the first Chief Minister of the state of Himachal Pradesh. The place has a Tudorbethan style library established in 1910. The Ridge is also Famous because of its Old Christ church which was built in the 1850's.
