You need to go through a Sikkim Government authorized Tour Operator to organize the trip and get your permits. A reserved large vehicle costs: Rs. 4,000 for a round trip, Shared vehicle rate: Rs 450 per person including permit. | You will require Photo Id proof (passport, Voters Card or Adhaar Card) and two passport size photos each for the permit. Approach the tour operator one day in advance to get your permits ready for next morning. | Yak Ride costs: Rs 450
Tsomgo Lake is also known as Changu Lake. It is a glacial lake in Sikkim. Located 35kms from Gangtok town, on the steep route known as Jawaharlal Nehru Road which leads all the way to Nathula Pass, takes two hours to reach.
Surrounded by lush green landscape and mountains, this lake presents stunning sight to behold. The surface of the lake reflects different colours in different seasons. Therefore, the lake is considered sacred among Sikkim people.
There is a small Shiva Temple nearby with beautiful lands and flowers and a food stall.Covered with mist on non-sunny days, this lake is one of the famous tourist attraction in Gangtok. Tourists can also enjoy a yak ride around the lake.
