Wat Pho is a buddhist temple located directly south of the Grand Palace on Rattanakosin Island. Wat Pho temple features a 46 meter reclining Buddha and largest collection of Buddha images in Thailand.
The Temple Complex of Wat Pho
The Phutthawat, Northern Wall: The prayer room and the temple with the reclining Buddha is located here. This area is open to public.
The Sankhawat, Southern Wall: Has a school and residential houses of the monks.
The grounds: The grounds of Wat Pho temple has 91 small stupas, 4 great stupas, a belfries where bells are there, a central shrine, many halls and gardens.
Phra Ubosot: The most sacredbuilding of the complex where rituals are performed
Phra Rabiang: Has 400 images of Buddha, some standing and some seated.
Phra Prang: 4 towers at each corner of the courtyard
There is a Traditional Medicine School within the complex of Wat Pho. Here traditional medicine and traditional massage are taught. Tourits can get the massages here. It is advised to book in advance.
