Sacsayhuaman or Saqsaywaman is located at a distance of 2KM from Cusco on the northern outskirt. Saqsaywaman is popular for dry stone walls constructed of huge stones. Saqsaywaman is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The view from this hilltop is worth capturing.

Sacsayhuaman Ruins
Sacsayhuaman is not only popular for its dry stone walls constructed of huge stones fit together without mortar but also popular for the wide view of the valley to the southeast.
Qenko Ruins
The smallest among the acsayhuaman, Quenko, Puka Pukara, and Tambomachay ruins built as a house and ceremonial site. The name means labyrinth or zigzag. The numerous ceremonial carvings, holes and canals cut into the rock as well as a semi-natural underground chamber makes Qenko an interesting site to visit.
Puka Pukara Ruins
"Puca" in Quechua means "Red" and "Pucara" means "Fortress-Watchtower. It is located along the road to the Antisuyo (the jungle part of the Inca empire), it also served as a checkpoint on the Inca road and was a military and administrative center.
Tambomachay Ruins
Popular as the "Inca's Baths", this archaeological site presents well-crafted canals, walls and windows which show the Incas' extraordinary architectural talents and their knowledge of hydraulics.
Tourist Ticket:
Single entry is not possible to Cusco Ruins, you would need to buy combined ticket known as the Tourist Ticket. It allows entry to multiple sites for 1, 2 or 10 days.
How to get to Sacsayhuaman
Taxi: Takes 10 minutes from Cusco and costs approx. 10 Soles. You can also convince the driver to cover nearby ruins in extra 40 - 50 Soles.
Walk: Reach Sacsayhuaman from Plaza de Armas
- Take road right to the Cathedral
- Turn left on Choqechaka road
- Take a right on the Atoc’sekuchi staircase
-Climb till the main road and take left to reach Cristo Rey statue
- Turn left on the gravel road and walk till the entrance to Sacsayhuaman
